Real Hourly Wage Calculator
See what you really keep per working hour after the expenses you enter. Compare gross hourly pay with the amount left once rent, bills, and other costs are counted.
Formula
Gross hourly = monthly income × 12 ÷ (days per week × hours per day × 52). Hourly after expenses = (monthly income − monthly expenses) × 12 ÷ the same yearly hours. Monthly amount left = income − expenses.
Example
Income of $4,800.00 and expenses of $1,600.00, at 5 days and 8 hours, leave $3,200.00 a month. That is $27.69 an hour before expenses and $18.46 an hour after them.
Assumptions
Expenses are whatever you enter: rent, food, debt payments, or anything else. The calculator does not know which of those are taxes. Working hours use 52 weeks and 12 months.
Limits
Subtracting living costs produces discretionary income per working hour, not a conventional net wage and not an after-tax wage. A negative result means the entered expenses are larger than the entered income.
